Well depending upon the damage you take a ripper and cut the
stitching holding the braid together now this where it gets tricky.
Try and find materials similar to the damaged braid or go to the very end
of the rug and remove a piece large enough to replace the worn or damaged
area. carefully cut and place the replacement like a tube over the end of
the trimmed worn piece.Using a whip stitch with similar colored thread
sew around the entire tube twice.Give a slight tug to test the seams to
make sure they will hold. Repeat the above steps for the next tube repair.
When finished restitch thebraid to itself and wip stitch the ends of the braid
where you removed the piece for repairs
