Looking for info on rugs safavieh, home dynamix rugs, oriental area rug, gabbeh persian rugs and more?

My house has laminate flooring throughout the main floor and has area rugs through it. Should I buy a canister vacuum or an upright vacuum for this?

I have 6 week old kittens I found outside covered in fleas. I have since gotten rid of the problem on the kittens and treated my area rugs (short pile) with a mixture of BORAX and salt. (a flea remedy I found here and on many other sites) It worked great and I was very careful to make sure all the excess powder was vaccummed up entirely before I let the kittens back in the room. Well, since that day I have to vaccum everyday because the BORAX keeps working its way up to the surface of the rug. I am scared the kittens might ingest a little of the BORAX if I can’t get it vacummed in time. It is always only a very small amount of granuals that work their way to the surface…BUT I AM SCARED! Has anyone tried this method and how long until the BORAX works itself all the way out of the carpet? Can the kittens handle a little of it or none at all?
I am not asking how to get rid of fleas. If you read my question I said the fleas are gone already……My question was about BORAX. Please dont copy and paste extremely long answers from some other website…..It just takes up space!

I have a very light cream/almost white sofa (8 feet) and 2 Ankara Chairs (from C&B) w/ light gray cushions as shown in the picture in the link here: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/chairs/ankara-chair-with-fennel-cushion/s176594. The floor is honey oak hardword floor.

I am wondering if this will be the right rug to go with when it comes to color aesthetics or should I go with something in light skyblue shade instead of light creamish brown base of Cyrille rug.

I have rust pillows on the chairs. I will get pillows w/ blue designs for the sofa and possibly a throw in as well.

My living room and dining area is in the same space with no physical separation between the two. Do i need to buy two of the same 5×8 area rugs to place under the coffee table and under the dining table to create a cohesive space or can i place two different style/color rugs and try to carve out two separate color schemes and/or themes. i dont know what would be visually best.

When a rubber gripper pad is placed under an area rug to prevent slipping on a laminate floor is there any potential for damage? (There are some non-rubber products available , but they are rather expensive.)
I am also eyeing area rugs that have materials added to the backing to make them non-slip and feeling suspicious of those also. I was not successful in finding much on-line information on this subject, but will welcome any links you suggest. Thank You.

We found one for 200 bucks. So far I have seen great reviews with a smattering of negative ones. I am looking for a highly effective vacuum that is easy to maneuver over my berber carpet, laminate wood floors, area rugs, and tiles. I prefer a quiet one as well (at least – not a loud one).

Anyone out there tried one of these? Thanks!

I’ve bought 3 area rugs Persian style from Ikea and put it on the top of the carpet. they were a piece and they are around55 to 70.
they are very beautiful but I keep tripping over them. they wrinkle. I put heavy furniture on them. they move a little bit now, but still wrinkle and not safe to walk on them

hi all, i live in a ranch home with a crawl space underneath it. i recently bought this house and am spending my first winter there. there is installation under the floors now, but the floors are still very cold, especially in morning.
some things to know are that:i keep my furnance temp at 69, and i have bought a few area rugs and runners.

i hope there is a better way to keep them warm thsi winter, my kids warm socks and slippers and stil get cold. thanks

My friend is opening a new, small business and is going to be selling sofas, mattresses and area rugs. I am trying to help him think of an original/catchy name for his business. He sells nice looking, new pieces but at VERY reasonable prices which hopefully will do well in today’s economy. He would like to stay away from using the word "furniture" as there are too many "furniture" stores in our town already. Thanks for the help!

I bind carpet and make area rugs – some with inset designs – fish, palm trees, etc. I’d like to learn how, or if it’s possible to inset a photograph on an area rug. Any suggestions?

Due to allergy issues, we had to pull up carpets in our 80 year old house. Like many older houses, the hardwood is only stained around the perimeter, the center is bare (where an area rug would be) We need to avoid large area rugs, and the bare area is fairly large. We like the rustic look, and don’t really want to sand. There are some varnish marks on the stained areas that will need to be cleaned. We also have an infant that crawls- parts of the floor are sort of rough. We have a limited budget, so can’t call in the professionals.

I have four 5×7 remnant area rugs that I plan to use in one of my rooms and I’m curious if I cut off the binding on two sides and butt up the carpets next to each other if the fibers will hold together. I intend to use double stick tape to hold the rugs together. Alternatively I may also have to cut off about half a foot length wise from each carpet to get it to fit.

We just got laminate flooring. It’s tongue and grove and looks like shiny cherry wood. We have a 5×7 area rug in the middle of the floor, it’s just a simple flat maroon area rug bought from Walmart.

Is there anything I can place underneath the area rug that won’t scratch the flooring and that will keep pet stains from seeping through to the laminate flooring.

I have a 16 year old dog and he pees everywhere and for some reason he’s fond of area rugs. I’ve pulled the carpet up to find that the pee has seeped through. Also because of the seepage I’m afraid of thoroughly cleaning the soiled area, such as with a carpet cleaner, because of the cleaners seeping down to the laminate.
