Help me in the choosing the right color for my Living Room.?

Looking for info on rugs safavieh, home dynamix rugs, oriental area rug, gabbeh persian rugs and more?

Hey everybody..

We bought used fabric Sofa and Love seat for our Living room. The color is not so vibrant..the cover has a pattern of dull light green and off-white. My husband loves its dullness but I want to put some cushion to make it lively. Also suggest me what color of rug and coffee table will go with the sofa.

Thanks,
RS
What color of cushion will make it vibrant?

I'm moving in two months, and I need to buy a ton of furniture. Can you recommend the cheapest, best deals on?

living room and bedroom furniture? I need to buy: sectional sofa, coffee table, bar, kitchen table and chairs, artwork, area rug, queen size bedroom set, mirrors, etc. How much do you think I can expect to spend? And should I finance or pay in full?

Thanks.

What wall color would go good with this?

I just bought a beige couch and I think I am going to get a black and beige zebra print rug. I have a black big screen tv and will get a black coffee table. what color walls should I do? Currently the walls are a lighter beige than my couch. Will this look ok or should I go with a different color to add some boldness to the room?

What is this kind of design style called?

two old white wicker chair chairs in front of one cozy burgundy couch over a large area rug with burgundy and beige which match the throw pillow on the couch and the seat cushions on the chairs. Wicker side tables and one wicker coffee table with a glass on it. In the corner of the room, a flea market purchased rattan and black iron bistro table with a black iron chandelier over it.

Your opinion on an area rug?

I’m furnishing my new apartment and I need to buy an area rug that will go on the bottom of my coffee table. I have dark brown leather couches, natural or very light brown bamboo hardwood flooring, and light beige wall paint. my TV stand coffee table and console table are glass tops with dark brown wood. Should I buy a gray, charcoal, or brown area rug. Thank you

Same area rug in the living room and dining room?

My living room and dining area is in the same space with no physical separation between the two. Do i need to buy two of the same 5×8 area rugs to place under the coffee table and under the dining table to create a cohesive space or can i place two different style/color rugs and try to carve out two separate color schemes and/or themes. i dont know what would be visually best.

How do I prevent my couch from moving around on my tile floor?

Recently I bought a sectional couch, that is two pieces, for my tiled living room and it sits right in the middle of the room, not up against a wall. It moves around due to the slickness of the floor. (Our previous couch, while smaller, was heavier and this wasn’t as much of an issue.) We have a couple of solutions, but I am hoping to find another solution here.
One idea is to get a HUGE throw rug that covers the length and width of the couch to the tv, to reduce the sliding. (Expensive!) Another idea is get a couple of runner rugs to go under the couch sections, hopefully hidden, and just get a smaller throw for under the coffee table in front of the tv.
There has to be a more inexpensive fix for preventing my couch from sliding around every time someone sits on it, other than runner rugs. Any home tips? Thanks!!

Any paint color ideas for bedroom?

It’s a new room and I am planning to keep all the walls white except for the wall behind my bed. I can’t think of any color. It’s very important cause this one wall will dictate what color of furniture and accents I should have for my room. I want the room to look sophisticated but fun.My room is very simple. the bed is a queen size which is not a tall bed. It’s really low. I am planning to have this corner where i could put an area rug and a low coffee table and have throw pillows as chairs. The floor will probably be wood lamination in very light shade. I am really frustrated on this one wall because everything has to blend well with it.

What colors go with Sage?

I have a sage microfibre sofa that I just bought, and want to keep. We have very light neutral carpet that goes with anything.

we want to buy:
drapes
an area rug
coffee table & end tables
and paint the walls

what colors would you go with?
Nothing too light because we have kids!

proper size for living room rug?

I’m not sure if i should choose a 3.4 by 5 which covers the middle part of the living room but still leaves room to walk around it. Or should I buy a 5 by 8 which covers most of the floor. The reason i need a rug is because i feel it brings the room and furniture nicely together. below is the pic of the rug I’m getting

I don’t have a coffee table and do not plan on getting one I like the open space and feel that a table will make my living room look clutered.

What do you suggest is a better size rug to get
I live in a tiny 2 bedroom chicago apt so needless to say that my apt is only slightly bigger than what a studio apt would be so the living room is really not that big

What colour will go with Brown sofa and black rug?

I have brown leather sofas black coffee table and wall bracket, brown curtains and I am thinking of buying a black rug but not sure if the black rug will match? and if it does what other colour could i mix in red or purple?

Will a black leather couch work in an art nouveau room?

I would like to gradually put my living room in the style of Parisian art nouveau, but I don’t think my husband will go for new couches, at least for a while. Right now we have a hand-me-down black leather couch, loveseat, chair, and ottoman that look similar to the ones here http://furniturefromhome.com/products/Quality-living-room-sofas-couch-leather-upholstery-sectional-/as49500-38-35-20-14.

My question is, if I start putting in a coffee table, rug, tiffany lamps, art, etc. from that period, will the couches look dumb with it all?

Please don’t answer unless you are familiar with art nouveau style. Thank you!
Thanks #3, this link should work instead.

Sarah sat on the edge of the chaise lounge, watching the throng of black-clad bodies drift silently in and out of the drawing room as she struggled to put names to faces. She couldn’t believe Maggie had had so many relatives, and never mentioned one of them. She scratched self consciously at the hem of her dress where the lace itched against her leg, and felt strangely out of place. Things were too…formal, for Maggie’s house. She would have turned her nose up to see all the suits, ties and champagne glasses in her home. Maggie had thrived in colourful chaos, and had been damn proud of it.

Sarah glanced around the room, at the orange rug from the seventies with its filthy daisy prints, worn thin from years of use, and looking completely out of place in the Edwardian build. Various cabinets had been crammed into the drawing room over the years, so Maggie had somewhere to put her collection of ashtrays and porcelain camels. A tan, spindly-legged giraffe sat at a crooked angle on the mantle, drawing some unimpressed glances from guests as they passed. Maggie had loved that ugly thing, Sarah remembered sombrely. She looked at the tired green wallpaper, dark as oak leaves and heavily contrasting against the black coffee table and yellow leather sofa. Nothing matched, but in the five years she’d known Maggie, nothing ever had. She could only imagine what her great grandkids had thought when they first saw the inside of the house. But it wasn’t junk, she knew that. Everything had a story behind it. Everything was a memory in physical form, a new discovery, a lost love, an adventure. Maggie had smiled whenever she’d remember something, and would talk for hours about things of the past. She’d spent most of her life travelling the world collecting these treasures, and all anyone else could see, was a house full of mismatched furniture. No doubt her grandkids were going to be pretty disappointed to find nothing valuable lying around. Sarah’s heart sank.

She left her plate of untouched food on the seat beside her, and went to the fireplace, lifting the giraffe off the mantle. Avoiding eye contact, she held it steady under one arm, while grasping the neck with her free hand. No one paid attention as she hurried, head down, into the dining room to search for her mother.

Quietened stares rippled through the dining room as she excused herself between the guests picking at the buffet. Hot rolls and coffee warmed the air, giving the room an almost pleasant atmosphere. She clutched the giraffe self-consciously, searching along the floor for the familiar black shine of her mother’s shoes. She sidled between the empty chairs and made her way toward the French doors, leading out to the garden. Two old men hesitated mid-conversation as she passed, raising their eyebrows and glancing at her over their shoulders as she tugged at the handle, her face growing warm before she even stepped out into the sun. She shut the door firmly behind her, leaning against it with her eyes closed, and clutching the giraffe to her chest. She’d never felt like such an outsider before. And she missed Maggie terribly.
Sorry if it’s a little too descriptive, but if you find words like throng or quietened are too ‘big’ for you to cope with, then this might be a little above your reading age.
