Rug Doctor – easy to use?
Looking for info on rugs safavieh, home dynamix rugs, oriental area rug, gabbeh persian rugs and more?
Hi, I am hiring a Rug Doctor to clean my landing, stairs and two bedrooms.
Are they easy to use? What do you have to do – do you have to fill with water etc – is it awkward or easy? Are the instructions easy to understand – I am not good with things like this. Does it take a long time to clean the carpets?
I once used a Bissell cleaner and it absolutely soaked my carpet and tended to do a tiny tiny bit at a time – it would have taken me about 3 hours to do my landing (which isn’t big at all!).
Also, do you recommend buying the cleaning solution that you can buy when you hire the Rug Doctor? I am trying to remove pet stains, coffee stains and just general ground in dirt. (I sound like a scruff bag but I’m not but my Weimarner puppy hasn’t got the hang of the toilet training yet and we also have a 5 year old with muddy shoes!!!). Thanks very much for your help.
Thanks Donna. Do I use White vinegar – how much should I use?
Should I bother buying a vacuum if I have no carpet?
Should I bother buying a real vacuum even though I have all wood flooring in my home? I usually use a broom or my Swivel Sweeper. But the broom just seems like it would spread the dirt around and the Swivel Sweeper just doesn’t have as much suction as a normal vacuum. I’m torn on what to do? Last night I was set on going to buy a vacuum today..and now I’m wondering if it would be worth it?
How to restore my carpet?
I bought this carpet 3 years ago. Back then, it was fluffy and moisturized which made it comfortable to sleep on. Dirt and dusts are inevitable so I had to wash it by hand with water and soap. But when it dried, though clean, it never restored its luster. Now, it’s kinda rough and uneasy to sleep on. Is there anything I could do to restore it? Is there something I should apply to make it moisturized again?
How can I deep clean my living room carpet by hand?
My carpet is sooo dirty and its driving me crazy. I have a 2.5 year old who snacks all day and is in the midst of being potty trained, so there are accidents from food and body functions. I also have a pet rat, who also runs around with food all day, on top of just every day wear and dirt.
The carpet is a mix of grey, cream, and white and patterned with squares that are indented with the edges raised up, they catch a ton of crumbs.
We don’t have any money to have them cleaned, or even rent a rug doctor. I’m not afraid to get down on my hands and knees and do a lot of work, I just need to know how…
Any instructions/tips for deep cleaning my carpet by hand? thank you so much in advance
My pet rat is amazing. She’s smart, gentle, litter trained, playful, cuddley. She has a great time playing with my daughter and wont bit even if you stick your finger in her mouth.
Can you put click lock flooring over a small area of carpet?
I am having a hard time finding an area rug that I can put at my front entrance of my rented apartment. My husband doesnt take off his shoes right away and tracks dirt in the house. I am wondering if I got some click lock flooring from Ikea that I could cover the small 3×4 area at my front door. I cant take out the the carpet since I rent. Do you think this would work?
what's the best way to clean normal dirt accumulation out of a white shag rug?
i live in a house on a college campus, and after all the parties and everything, the floors tend to get dirty. my white shag area rug is right by my door, so a lot of dirt has been tracked onto it and it’s starting to look gray and isn’t fluffy anymore. i love my rug, is there any way to save it?
How to get black spots out of a wool carpet?
I got an amazing, but very, very dirty, oriental wool rug for on Craigslist. I have a Hoover carpet cleaner and have gone over the rug six times to get all the general dirt out, but there are still black spots (that look suspiciously like old soda stains) that won’t budge. I’ve tried heavy duty spot remover and light brushing, and nothing. I know this rug has been in basement storage for five years, so should I just take whatever results I can get with the Hoover until I can get it professionally cleaned- or are there other options? Thanks:)
How do I clean my IKEA area rug?
I recently bought an ikea rug, which isn’t exactly an area rug, but is big enough not to put in a washer. I vacuum it regularly, but it is a white rug with big colourful blobs, and the dirt off of my feet can be seen in certain spots.. I was wondering if anyone knew how to clean it.. I was just going to buy a carpet cleaner and scrub it, but there are multiple spots with dirt. Also, I’m not sure if the colours are going to bleed if I try to do that.. I don’t really want to buy a steam cleaner, but I guess if that is my only option.. but again i don’t want the colours to bleed.
Any info is appreciated! Thanks!
How do you thoroughly clean an area rug without a steam cleaner?
Can you thoroughly clean a rug without a steam cleaner? My rugs are showing dirt and I think they need more than spot cleaning to get them clean. Our steam cleaner no longer works and I’m hesitant to purchase a new one since we have all hardwood/tile except for three mid-sized area rugs.
The rugs are colorful children’s play rugs, not fine rugs, which are located in our play room. One has a little train track picture on it! They weren’t especially expensive, but that doesn’t mean I want to replace them over 6 months either!
Should I hire carpet cleaners or buy a carpet steamer?
I have an off-white berber carpet throughout much of my house. It’s looking a little grubby and is stained (just dirt, I think…not food or juice) a bit, and I’m wondering whether it’s worth it to hire professional carpet cleaners to clean it. Or should I just buy a steamer (like, one of the 0-200 ones) to do most of it myself? Should I get the carpet cleaners to do a great job once and then get the steamer for upkeep later? I’m not really sure of the pros and cons, so hopefully someone out there knows!
Review Please!?
Passage about hands. Can you tell what they’re feeling? I know its not REALLY poetry, but I didn’t know where to put it!
Their constant position was a silent cry for help. Cupped, extended, and waiting. Passerby could see their distress, even from their height of multi-million dollar status; they could see the pain, replete in each fold of skin. Yet, surprisingly, hardly a quarter graced the dry and cracked palms of the destitute. Like the sun at the close of the day, the hands too began to narrow the gap, sinking slowly toward the gum choked sidewalk. Perhaps people would be more giving if they saw the nails. The dirt along the gutters could not compete with them. Grown long from lack of care, they collected the earth, the leftover pieces of other lives, the filth that has no rightful place other than under the rug. “Tomorrow,” say the hands as they burrow deeper into pockets, forfeiting the fight with the bitter December air. The chapped skin screams in protest as each
knuckle scrapes the rough fabric. “Tomorrow.”
What Is That Dust That Comes Off Fine Oriental Rugs?
I have a oriental rug spent over K on it so it’s not cheap…. I put a pad underneath it, to protect it, and the pad sheds dust like beige brownish manner and I vacuum twice a month so it’s not dirt but from the pad. Also, wondering how can bread crubs go through an oriental rug that has a pad underneath????? I mean there are two layers so how the heck do those crumbs get down there?
It’s not like I sweep them underneath.
HOW?????
What's your opinion on Kirby Vacuum?
I just bought one today. The sales guy happened to be at my local grocery store parking lot eating in his car while I was loading my car with the rug doctor I just rented to clean my carpet today and that’s when he approached me. He was a bit pushy about cleaning my carpet "for free". Obviously there was a catch but he managed to convince me. After seeing the demonstration of all the dirt that’s being left behind, I gave in. The price that they originally said was 00 but he ended up selling it to me for 00 plus 2 years worth of bags and shampoo.
I’ve NEVER heard of this company or the reputation of the sales people before today. I bought the vacuum and then went online to research what I bought. hehe, bad choice. After reading some reviews, I don’t feel so good about the purchase anymore.
Obviously it’s alot of money for a vacuum. For anyone who has experience with these vacuums, what are your thoughts and opinions? Please help!! I have 3 days to return it if i want.
The demonstration is VERY convincing. That’s why I bought it. Is it worth it? Could I have gotten it for less than 00? It’s the newest model, "sentria".
Are they even good vacuums? Does it get more dirt out than everday vacuums?
How to buy furniture and accessories direct to start a small business?
I have a few friends that have started businesses, one a rug and home accessory, and another a furniture business, I have always wanted to own a small furniture and home accent business and have gone to the market in High Point NC and Atlanta Georgia.Buying from the manufacturer is not cheap and the mark up would have to be ridiculas. You also have to make major purchases to carry most lines of furniture. I would be more interested in discontinued or floor samples. They both are very successful and are hush hush about where they get their merchandise. but I do know that they get it dirt cheap and they travel to pick everything up.I am more interested in sofas. Can anyone give me some ideas where to start.
Thanks Rob B.
