Carpet quality and Padding for carpet?

Looking for info on rugs safavieh, home dynamix rugs, oriental area rug, gabbeh persian rugs and more?

I am replacing the current carpet in the bed rooms. The new carpet thtat I am getting is stainmaster@ Kamaro, pulsh carpet, 46 oz face weight, 4.5 twist, solid color. The cost is .2 per sq ft and .8 per sq yard. This is Home Depot’s special price. Is this a good price?

For padding, Home Depot has two types of foam padding, one is .16 per sq ft, thickness is 1/2". The other one is .96 sq ft, the thickness is 7/16. What is your advice on which kind of padding to buy?

Anyone had experience with Home Depot doing your carpet?

I went to Home Depot as they are really the only local place for carpet. I need the carpet for Christmas. The company (Mowhawk) had the carpet but not a surplus, just enough. The problem is the woman I dealt with said that she has had some problems with the company that does the in home measuring for them. Apparently, they like to drag their feet.

Just wondering about postive or negative experiences. I have also already paid the .00 fee for the measuring that cannot be refunded weither I back out of buying the carpet or not. However, I do believe it they drag around much longer, I will ask for a refund before they come here and go elsewhere.

Again right now, I am talking about Home Depot only….Thanks for any information or experiences you may have had…

How much would carpet/installation cost for about 800-900 sq. ft.?

I am about to buy a house that needs carpet replaced throughout. I am too shy to ask the people at home depot. I just want a plush, tan colored carpet. Also, does the price per square foot include padding, tack boards and installation, or just the carpet? Thank you.

I found carpet at home depot called "platinum plus". Can I buy this carpet some where else by a different name?

I have a contractor that says he can get this platinum plus carpet for cheaper than home depot sells it for. HD says that it is their brand & no one can get it but them. Is it sold by a distributor under a different name?

Where do I buy the materials needed to make a sub enclosure?

MDF i know I can get at home depot and lowes, and I know you can use a PVC pipe to make the length of the port of a sub.

What I don’t know is, where can I get the carpeting they use for subwoofers? At the home improvement stores all they sell is carpeting for homes and rugs, and that stuff is way too thick for the enclosures.

Also, where can I find the insert you put on the face of the port, to make the transition from the sub box to the port pipe? Hopefully someone knows what I’m talking about cause I dont really know how to describe it or what its called :X

Thanks in advance!

Is there such a thing as a super thin extension cord that I can run under a rug?

I do not have electrical outlets in the floor of my home, as some newer structures do. I have a lamp on an end table that is several feet from the wall outlet. I wanted to make the cord as neat as possible, so I used two extension cords, ran them under my sisal rug, under and behind the sofa, and plugged the lamp in on the opposite wall. The end table has a shelf, so the connector plug is hidden. The concept was good, but the outline of the cord is beginning to show through the rug. I have a thin pad in place, and the cords are under that as well. It still shows as a raised ridge under the rug.

I know it may be a safety issue, but I use the lamp only when I am home. My question is, is there a type of extension cord that is thin and meant for use under rugs? Would an electrical supply place or an electrician have cords other than those I can buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s?

The foundation of my home is concrete. It may be too much of an issue to install a plug in the floor to accomodate a lamp that is not near a wall.

Any ideas?

Where do I buy Nylon rope? What kind of store sells it?

My girlfriend has some tie-up fantasies and I’ve read it’s the easiest on the skin. Where would I buy this stuff at? Home Depot? Carpet Store?

can i buy cut carpet from home depot without installation?

What I am saying is, you know the carpet center where you buy carpet to be installed into your home at home depot? Can I just buy like 15*18 of that, and just take it, I dont want to get it installed I just want to use it like a rug, I know someone who can fix it up

Question regarding vinyl flooring….?

I am remodeling a 5′ x 7′ bathroom and I want to put down sheet vinyl on the floor. Do I really have to worry about the quality/thickness of it? I mean it’s not like I’ll be moving appliances around on it like a kitchen. I will also have bath rugs over it. The sub floor is all new and smooth. I found some pre rolled vinyl (half the price) from a bargain outlet store and my Dad says I shouldn’t use it. One one person in the house too. Thoughts? Thanks!
Well I bought a 9 x 12 sheet for and can resell some of that. From Home Depot and a carpet store it would be about 5!

I just bought an 8' x 10' area rug and I want to use a rug pad but they are expensive ….?

What if I went to Home Depot and bought a sheet of rubber cut to just a bit less than 8′ x 10′ and then a piece of felt the same size – glue them together and pop the area rug on top?

Would that work?
PAULA

I have polished/painted stone floors and a guy on E.How said that a piece of rubber and felt would be just fine

Why does my new carpet smell so bad?

I bought a 9×12 area rug at home depot about two weeks ago. When I unrolled it, the carpet gave off a pungent smell that is very much like the brine that olives soak in. After two weeks of being unrolled and in place in my bedroom, the smell is still so pungent that it has permeated my clothes. Does anyone know what this smell is and how I can get rid of it?

Thanks in advance.
