Looking for info on rugs safavieh, home dynamix rugs, oriental area rug, gabbeh persian rugs and more?

have a 900.sq ft condo. I am going to rent a Rug Doctor to clean the carpet in my hallway,my living room and my bedroom. I have a 3 yr old shih tzu who has unfortunately, peed on the carpet and has had an accident or two in the bedroom.
I plan on using the wide trac machine, seems faster..Any helpful hints/tips ,please? I’m also thinking I should buy their odor remover bio enzyme technology to put in the machine and oxy steam cleaning solution? Any helpful tips… if you have ever tried to clean your carpets before due to pets, would be helpful and appreciated!

I can’t decide if I want to buy a carpet cleaner (0) or if I should just rent a rug doctor ( – but probably split between me and my sister so she can use it too) or hire a professional to come and clean it good once (0) but they would have their own cleaner so I wouldn’t have to worry about that. I have about 1100 sq ft to clean. Any one have an opinion? Thanks.

We ran a rug doctor over the carpet and it took out some stuff, but theres a reddish pink stain (several of them, which I believe to be juice or kool-aid) that wouldn’t come out and I think some old pet stains. I have already tried Awesome, which works for a lot of things, but didn’t work on these stains. These are relatively old stains, so they are going to be harder to get out. If you have any tips that you have seen work, send them my way. Thanks!

I’ve been cleaning the carpet in my son’s bedroom and have found several stains ( I can’t identify what they are) that don’t come out with the the carpet cleaner—Rug Doctor from Lowes. I know that Rug Doctor sells a remover, but I didn’t buy it because I felt there is probably a better one out there.

I bought a cheapo used carpet shampooer, an old Rug Doctor rental unit. What can I use as a cleaning solution? The Rug Doctor website, of course reccomends their products, I’m sure there are other products available or maybe I can brew up something in the kitchen myself. What have other people used?

I am in such a quandry! I am sick of researching vacuums. I thought Dyson was just overly marketed but I really wanted to get one. But then I saw a Kirby work at a vac store and was impressed.

Which should I get? A new (refurbished) Dyson or used Kirby? It seems that Dyson is the king of the cheap plastic vacs but Kirby is the king of all vacs? Or is Dyson as good as Kirby? Has anyone really compared? I have 2 shedding dogs and lots of square feet but tired of cleaning just the surface. I want clean carpets!!!

p.s. does the kirby shampooer really work well like a rug doctor would? Cleans high traffic areas etc?

I am attempting to put together a carpet cleaning system that rivals my Prochem truck mount system. I have two excellent industrial Lamb motors/suction fans from the die hard Carpet Magic machines built by Hartz. These were the machines popularized in the 70′s and 80′s for grocery store rental- two square orange tanks, one for clean water and one for dirty. EXCELLENT machines! I really like the Rug Doctor design, but Carpet Magic’s were built with better suction fans and pumps. Although I used my two machines independently, I wish to gain the suction power of both machines combined. I know that putting the motors in series results in excellent suction, simply running a ‘Y’ adapter into both from my carpet wand is MUCH easier. Question: Is the increase in motor speed detrimental when running two motors in series?
I have often wondered what would happen if I simultaneously used a small water pump to evacuate the water out of the dirty water suction tank, thereby gaining more water lift power due to the smaller volume needed- instead of filling a large waste water tank there would be no need for a tank much larger than a gallon or two. The extracted dirty water could be pumped off to the toilet, sink, or even outside. Question: How powerful would this evacuation water pump need to be to overcome the resistance of suction from the vacuum fans? Is there a formula?
I also thought about isolating the water to be removed from the tank by some mechanical means. Or possible a bellow could fill with water and trigger a spring loaded door… I see it in my head anyway ( laughs!).

Hi, I am hiring a Rug Doctor to clean my landing, stairs and two bedrooms.

Are they easy to use? What do you have to do – do you have to fill with water etc – is it awkward or easy? Are the instructions easy to understand – I am not good with things like this. Does it take a long time to clean the carpets?

I once used a Bissell cleaner and it absolutely soaked my carpet and tended to do a tiny tiny bit at a time – it would have taken me about 3 hours to do my landing (which isn’t big at all!).

Also, do you recommend buying the cleaning solution that you can buy when you hire the Rug Doctor? I am trying to remove pet stains, coffee stains and just general ground in dirt. (I sound like a scruff bag but I’m not but my Weimarner puppy hasn’t got the hang of the toilet training yet and we also have a 5 year old with muddy shoes!!!). Thanks very much for your help.

I own a cell phone store and my carpets are a mess. I’m trying to save money because stanley steemer wants around 0. I thought about renting the rug doctor for from the local grocery store. Would it work well for commerical grade thin grey carpet that has some dirt, road salt, and grease in it from the several customers that walk on it every day?

Long story short…

Trained our puppy and she had accidents in our bedroom. Ever since our bedroom has smelled a little funny. After becoming pregnant I couldn’t stand the smell and could no longer sleep in the bedroom. I had a professional cleaner come out and clean our carpets and it didn’t help the smell. About 5 days ago, I went to the store and purchased Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh Odor Eliminating Powder and stupidly used a whole box in the bedroom. The perfume from the Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh is terribly strong, even though I’ve vacuumed the bedroom floor 10+ times now and have changed my vacuum bags twice already. I called Arm & Hammer and they recommended buying regular Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and spreading that on top to remove the scent. It didn’t work. I tried leaving bowls out of vinegar for 24 hours to soak up the smell and that didn’t work either. I’ve vacuumed a million times already also.

I still have this terrible flowery powder smell from the Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh Odor Eliminating Powder that I cant get rid of. Every time I walk upstairs I get nauseous and end up sick in the bathroom from the smell. It’s terrible and the smell is making me depressed and I have to sleep downstairs now.

Please I’m so desperate to get this fixed. Any recommendations? Should I rent a Rug Doctor maybe? How do I get this Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh Odor Eliminating Powder smell out? Thanks!
Also, I’ve had the windows open and the fan on for days, doesn’t help much either.

I work at a store with a lot of different departments.

I wanted to switch to a different department when I turned 18, Im 18 and I asked if I could and one of the managers told me I wasn’t agressive enough with the customers for any of the jobs and I am to laidback.

Its frustrating because they throw all my mistakes and things they think im doing wrong in there.

They see me walking somewhere and they think im not doing my job.

They saw me walking off after bagging the grocerys. But that was only because the girl at the service counter asked me to check the rug doctor to see how many there are.
Sorry this is a rant.

Gahh I hate my job.

My carpet is sooo dirty and its driving me crazy. I have a 2.5 year old who snacks all day and is in the midst of being potty trained, so there are accidents from food and body functions. I also have a pet rat, who also runs around with food all day, on top of just every day wear and dirt.

The carpet is a mix of grey, cream, and white and patterned with squares that are indented with the edges raised up, they catch a ton of crumbs.

We don’t have any money to have them cleaned, or even rent a rug doctor. I’m not afraid to get down on my hands and knees and do a lot of work, I just need to know how…

Any instructions/tips for deep cleaning my carpet by hand? thank you so much in advance My pet rat is amazing. She’s smart, gentle, litter trained, playful, cuddley.She has a great time playing with my daughter and wont bit even if you stick your finger in her mouth.

I have an 11 month old Pomeranian.

He still goes to the bathroom in the house.

I have bought a "urine eliminator" spray from rug doctor. I also have a Rug doctor carpet cleaner machine. I also bought the plain carpet cleaner solution to go into the machine.

I have already cleaned the carpets once, and they still smell.

Any tips or similar situations?
