Can I use blue accents such as blue throw pillows to decorate my living room?
Looking for info on rugs safavieh, home dynamix rugs, oriental area rug, gabbeh persian rugs and more?
My walls are light gray, my sofa is black, and I have a 5×8 black and white area rug. I might use white curtains.
Need help with picking the color for living room curtains?
Hi there.. I need some advice with colors that I should be picking for my living/dinning area. I am planning to give a traditional look.
Color of walls: Off-white
Floor: Tiled and off-white
Color of Sofa: Beige microfibre
Color of Center Area Rug:Traditional design with Red-Beige-Green
Dinning Table: Traditional design w/ rust metal
End/Center Tables: Mahogony wood & rust metal.
There are 4 very large windows in the combined living/dinning area of my house and colors picked will play a major role in defining the room and moods. So I am highly confused about picking the curtain color. I feel dark shades will make the room look small and i am not sure about lighter shaded curtains as everything else has light shades. If there are websites which could be of help, please post them as well. Any sort of advice will be highly appreciated.
Help with dog issues i think my dog may be ill!!!?
My dog, he is 3 years old and is a welsh springer spaniel,
in the day hes a bit boring and not as hyper as he was and not as friendly he wants to sleep, and is only happy when,,, other people come.. and then hes okay i suppose playful still but not as playful, and then at night he will start getting all frightend, and sit in the toilet and not come out, and he will be scared of any little bang or noise and he is scared and he only wants to be in that little toilet but no where else but there.
but before hand, he used to be so playful hyper happy wants to be with you all the time, and was a loving dog, loved his walks and being with everyone and sit with you in the sitting room and night and lay beside you on the rug and would let you give him a little stroke.
he started to change about 3-4 weeks ago when people next door set off some fireworks, during flipping summer, and he has never had like fireworks, he used to be frighten and hide behind the sofa untill he felt safe, but its never effected him this long, some people seem to think he is attention seeking and he will be fine, but surely he would of given up by now, and others seem to think a brain tumor, please let me know what you think it makes me sad because my dog is sad
What's an effective way to cleaning a really dirty carpet without a vacuum?
My vacuum cleaner broke down and I need to think of a way to clean my carpets before christmas eve. I don’t have the funds to buy another one and I don’t like the intention to borrow anything from anyone.
What should I do?
I used my broom yesterday, but the are soo much dirt that not even a straw broom can even get it out. It’s like trying to get gum out of a sofa.
what accent color would work best with dark brown leather furniture and dk brwn floors?
i need new curtains, throw pillows, and an area rug. can’t decide on a color though. right now everything is earthy and neutral. we have a dk green olive sofa and loveseat and tan/beige curtains. in a week our new furniture is coming, it’s a dramatic change. dk brown leather modern sectional and reclyner.

i was thinking red for a splash of bold color, or pale blue i like the way the pale blue and dk brwn compliment eachother. my husband wants to stay with earth tones and neutrals. he is leaning toward an olive green (like our current sofa).
Is there such a thing as a super thin extension cord that I can run under a rug?
I do not have electrical outlets in the floor of my home, as some newer structures do. I have a lamp on an end table that is several feet from the wall outlet. I wanted to make the cord as neat as possible, so I used two extension cords, ran them under my sisal rug, under and behind the sofa, and plugged the lamp in on the opposite wall. The end table has a shelf, so the connector plug is hidden. The concept was good, but the outline of the cord is beginning to show through the rug. I have a thin pad in place, and the cords are under that as well. It still shows as a raised ridge under the rug.
I know it may be a safety issue, but I use the lamp only when I am home. My question is, is there a type of extension cord that is thin and meant for use under rugs? Would an electrical supply place or an electrician have cords other than those I can buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s?
The foundation of my home is concrete. It may be too much of an issue to install a plug in the floor to accomodate a lamp that is not near a wall.
Any ideas?
You buy furniture…….?
…. You tell yourself, this is the last sofa I will ever need in my life. Buy the sofa, then for a couple years you’re satisfied that no matter what goes wrong, at least you’ve got your sofa issue handled. Then the right set of dishes. Then the perfect bed. The coffe table. The rug. Then you’re trapped in your lovely nest, and the things you used to own, now they own you.
Does any else agree?
What color area rug shell I choose?
I have a medium brown floor, red curtains, grey sofa, dark color furniture (some are antique) and white/beige walls.
So what color and style would be most suitable to make room look stylish and fresh?
Thanks in advance ![]()
Is this a good description? please help~!?
When I was young I used to spend most of my time at my grandparents house. Their house brings me lots of wonderful memories and therefore it became very important to me.
The house was as big as a palace. It had a very big garden with creeping vines hanging down the walls and many other different trees (oak and pine) and plants like sunflowers and cactus. In the middle of the garden there a towering wall which made it look mysterious. It was very old and breezy.
The palace House had eleven rooms which were all decorated. The room that I liked most was in the middle of the house which was the living room. It had lots of different coloured rugs (carpet), a fireplace that burnt logs and a sofa with lots of different coloured cushions. My grandmother used to tell me that in the old days this room was used like a store.
I do my homework in peace in their wonderful garden. I used to spend most of my time in the room which I called mine. That was because I used to sleep in it and used to keep lots of my belongings in it. It was beautifully decorated , it had azure walls. From the window I could see a wonderful view of the emerald grass. There were another five bedrooms. To the right there was a kitchen which my grandmother cooked in, to my north I could see the
My grandfather loved to cook food. She used to cook tasty meals and desserts. a cat used to sleep in the warmth.
There were three bathrooms. The walls were all decorated in a dark salmon colour.
The study was where my grandfather used to write and read books. It had an enormous library with all kinds of interesting books. Some of them were very old.
My grandfather’s cabinet always gave me frightful thoughts and i never opened it unless he asked me.
I still treasure my precious memories of the great times I had at palace house.

What does my nightmare mean?
Okay, I was walking into my house, only it wasn’t my house. I recognized it as my house but it looked like your typical haunted mansion. It was a lot smaller from the inside than from the outside. I walked into the living room and it was ominously empty except for a sofa and two chairs that had for some reason were out in the middle of the room instead if against the walls.
I guess I should explain one of the creepiest parts of the dream now. All the angles were off; everything appeared to be twisted, and it looked like my eyes were about 10 feel farther back than they should have been (it was still first-person, though) and my side-vision was reduced. I hop you know what I’m talking about from that description. It reminded me of a painting that I saw as an illustration to a Poe book where there was an empty room but you could have sworn you were looking through the eyes of something horrible.
Anyway, back to the room. It was all faded yellow, and had a really low ceiling. There was a brown and burgundy rug. I walked through the room and I found myself in the kitchen. Some stuff was out, it looked like I was about to make pancakes, but there was nothing in the cupboards or the fridge. This room, like all the rooms of the house, had a frighteningly low ceiling.
I heard a petrifying, low-pitched scream. I can’t describe it, but believe me, it was terrible. I ran through another door and found myself in a hall. I heard a growl, then opened a door and found myself in yet another empty room, this time green except for the dark-brown wooden floor. There was a wolf-man standing in the middle of the room, but then it transformed into a normal human and committed suicide by jumping out if the closed window. I had not climbed a single step, but this room was 7th-floor.
I ran into another room, yellow again, and went into the middle, and there was another low scream. Suddenly, I was carrying a revolver. I felt like I had been carrying it the whole time, but looking back, I know I wasn’t. I turned around to find a gruesome undead creature (I would say "zombie" but in the dream, I got the sense that it was much worse than a zombie) and I shot it. It fell over dead, and this time it screamed again, not in anger, but in sorrow and agony. Somehow this was even scarier than the other two times. I ran toward the next door, I had my hand on the doorknob, this door was really important somehow… then I woke up.
I think there were a bunch of scary bats, but I don’t remember what happened. There was also something about Dracula, but I know I didn’t actually run into him. I also got the strong feeling that I was running away from someone who wanted to kill me, and that’s the reason I was here. This guy I was running from was human.
I just know this dream meant something. Don’t even answer if you’re just going to say "stop watching horror movies."
Will a black leather couch work in an art nouveau room?
I would like to gradually put my living room in the style of Parisian art nouveau, but I don’t think my husband will go for new couches, at least for a while. Right now we have a hand-me-down black leather couch, loveseat, chair, and ottoman that look similar to the ones here http://furniturefromhome.com/products/Quality-living-room-sofas-couch-leather-upholstery-sectional-/as49500-38-35-20-14.
My question is, if I start putting in a coffee table, rug, tiffany lamps, art, etc. from that period, will the couches look dumb with it all?
Please don’t answer unless you are familiar with art nouveau style. Thank you!
Thanks #3, this link should work instead.

Father Ted Jesus Settee Rug?
yeah, so if you’ve watched father ted have you noticed the rug on the back of the sofa? I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get one similar or if there is any the same that I can buy online? thanks.
will it be too much to match decor pillows to my rug?
I recently bought a beautiful rug for my living room – brown base with splashs of yellow, red and orange in it (almost 3Dish). It’s very contemporary and I like it alot. Recently, I found some decor pillows that have the exact same design ( brown with the same colored circles, i believe the pillow designer was VERY inspired by the rug if you get my drift)…anyways, I love the pillows but I am unsure if it would be a faux pas to have them on my sofa. By the way, my sofa is a modern/contemporary neutral/light beige color so any color will pop on it. My walls are a fall green so anything green would be overkill. I was going for a fall theme when I chose my colors.
